The Importance of Touch

by Julie Sinclair, 12/09/2023

There are times in our lives when we may have gone weeks, months, sometimes years of not being regularly touched by someone. Whether that be someone to come home to, a hug, or even a handshake and face to face interaction. In these cases, we start wondering about what it would be like to be able to buy human touch. Such ideas are not unusual.
Human touch is crucial for various aspects of physical and emotional well-being. When touched with consent, our bodies release oxytocin, a bonding hormone, dopamine, and serotonin. It reduces our stress levels and makes us feel safe. Touch can communicate love, comfort, empathy, and support. It is among the most basic of our human needs. It is so important that among infants, the lack of touch and affection during this stage can lead to developmental issues and difficulties in forming emotional connections later in life. The elderly and disabled are also at risk of not being given adequate amount of touch and human connection.
It is common for many people these days, particularly men, to go without the physical touch of another person. This could be due to social expectations and gender norms. The easiest and most accessible source of touch for a man is his romantic partner, and if she is unavailable or he does not have one, there are not many other sources of human touch for him.

As a professional companion, I see this desire for touch in many of the gentlemen who see me. I am more than happy to provide for this aspect of their basic needs, and this career is one where I feel I am doing important work and feel appreciated for what I do. I love what I do, and it is always nice to see a gentleman happier than he arrived and a more relaxed body language. Human touch is healing and refreshing to both body and soul, and I am glad to be a part of that.
